As we head into the film’s second weekend TF3 is doing its best to get as much money in the bank before Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows Pt 2arrivess on the 15th. It passed the $500m on Thursday, its 9th day on release; beating the 10 day record held by the 3rd & 4th Pirates movies. With an amazing $511.1m in the bank already it is all but certain to have grossed more than $600m by its 11th day, which would again see it go past a record currently held by the last two Pirates movies. (it took them 12 days to reach $600m)
Before the film came out there were those that doubt the film’s chances of even reaching Revenge of The Fallen’s $836.2m, let alone passing it; but such a high total after 9 days suggests that Harry Potter will have to destroy it next weekend for it not to pass that total and the film surely has a real chance of becoming the ninth film to pass $1b at the world wide box office. Especially when you consider that two of the biggest markets, Japan & China haven’t even opened yet.
