Prometheus is...still a mystery. (Not Alien 0.1)

The movie that was to be Sir Ridley Scott’s return to the Alien movies is still his return to Science fiction and is still set in the same ‘universe’ that the Alien films take place in. But, other than the fact that it is no longer a true prequel to Alien, we’re pretty much in the dark about what it actually is.
Well we’re still in the dark, but now we have a really weak glow in the dark arrow pointing us in a kind of direction that may shed some light on things. Fox released what can best be described as a micro – synopsis for the film which said this:-

”Visionary filmmaker Ridley Scott returns to the genre he helped define, creating an original science fiction epic set in the most dangerous corners of the universe. The film takes a team of scientists and explorers on a thrilling journey that will test their physical and mental limits and strand them on a distant world, where they will discover the answers to our most profound questions and to life’s ultimate mystery."

So that’s all cleared up then. What we do know is that there’s a mighty impressive cast assembling; Michael Fassbender (X-Men: First Class, Jayne Ayre), Noomi Rapace (Millenium Trilogy / Swedish), Idris Elba (Thor, Luther, The Wire), Charlize Theron (Monster, Hancock) and Guy Pearce (L.A Confidential, Memento); Ben Foster (3:10 to Yum, X-Men: The Last Stand) is apparently set to join the cast too. The film is written by Damon Lindleof (Star Trek, Lost, Cowboys & Aliens) and John Spaihts. The film is due for release in June 2012.
