This may be the only time I get to say something like this; my favourite part of this reel is where we are introduced to a Phillip Weis’s (Vincent Kartheiser) mother-in-law, wife and daughter and they all look exactly the same age, priceless.

There’s a lot of young talent in this film including (Social Network, Friends With Benefits) as main protagonist Will Salas; Alex Pettyfer (I AM Number Four, Beastly) as Fortis; Amanda Seyfried (Red Riding Hood, Mean Girls) as Sylvia Weis & Cillian Murphy (Inception, Batman Begins) as Timekeeper Raymond Leon. The film has been written and directed by Andrew Nicol writer of the Truman Show and writer director of Gattaca  and Lord of War. (Twilight fans may also be interested to know that he is also the writer director of the adaptation of Stephanie Meyer’s The Host.)

Now given Nicol’s pedigree with high concept Sci-Fi (The Truman show is an outstanding film and Gattaca is also very good, perhaps slightly ahead of its time) I’m actually more accepting of this film than I may otherwise have been. It’s a very high concept and you need to make a big leap to accept the premise of the film; but as proven with The Truman show, once you do that you should be in for an exciting, enjoyable time, with perhaps a little does of morality tale / social conscience hidden in there too.

Here’s the studio synopsisisationing...

When Will Salas is falsely accused of murder, he must figure out a way to bring down a system where time is money – literally – enabling the wealthy to live forever while the poor, like Will, have to beg, borrow, and steal enough minutes to make it through another day.

The film rolls out from the 27th of October (North America 28/10/11; UK 1/11/11)

Time’s up...
