The film, one of two Snow White films currently racing towards production, already has Chris Hemsworth (Thor himself) cast as the Huntsman. In this version as well as ignoring the evil queen’s (Charlize Theron) orders to kill Snow White (Kristen Stewart) and setting her free, the huntsman also trains her to become strong enough to take on her wicked Stepmother.

McShane will play Caesar, the leader of a band of intelligent apes that of the Dwarves that take in Snow White after her betrayal by the queen, and rescue by the huntsman. McShane is on a bit of a fantasy roll at the moment. He can currently be seen being completely wasted as Blackbeard in Pirates of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, is filming Bryan Singer’s Jack The Giant Killer, which is due for release next year. He’s also provided excellent voice over wok in fantasy films Kung Fu Panda (Tai Lung), Coraline (Mr. Sergei Alexander Bobinsky )and The Golden Compass (Ragnar Sturlusson).

Universal’s Snow White and The Huntsman is being directed by Rupert Sanders and is due to begin filming this August, for a release on the 1st of June 2012 (One Mont after Hemsworth’s The Avengers.

Relativity's untitled Snow White film is due for release in March 2012; although there is every chance that at least one of these films will be delayed.

  1. I can't wait to see the resuslts of this movie. Now, I think you remember ny opinions about Twilight but Kristen Stewart as Snow White...I think not! Hoping for a daaaark Snow White, almost Coal Black.....well it's not gonna happen but there's always hope.

  2. I know what you mean, but I have a feeling Sewart will have a chance to prove herself here. I've seen her a few times before Twilight and she was pretty decent.

Hemsworth is a great choice for The Huntsman, let's just see if she can fall for him instead of Prince Charming! :) Ian McShane is one of those actors who instantly adds 15% extra class to anything he's in. Plus I've met him and he was really nice.
