The Help: behind the scenes featurette for one of the year’s most anticipated book adaptations.

I’ll admit that I haven’t finished reading this book yet; Even though I bought it as a gift for my mum, and a few others, solely on the strength of the reviews and the two chapters that I had read. Now don’t take that the wrong way. It simply comes down to the fact that I have a bad habit of reading three or four different things at a time, a comedy here, a non-fiction book there, a comic graphic novel and a thriller or something. Add that  to the fact that I spent the best part of a year incapable of reading anything (writing either, hence the absence of pretty much anything on here or Syfy’s website for about 12 months); it’s all a long boring story about a long term illness and medication blah, blah, but short story the book is fine read so far. I’m enjoying the book and I’m definitely looking forward to the film.

Trailer...

The humour of the novel (which is a clever way of examining the frankly absurd situations black & white people found themselves in during our all to recent past) appears to have translated well to the big screen and this is definitely a book that suits a filmed version and there will be little excuse for the Screen writer / director, Tate Taylor, if this film doesn’t deliver the goods.

Featurette...

Whilst the book deals with America there’s bound to be plenty to relate to for people of all backgrounds around the world. I recommend giving the book a try and hope to be able to say the film is worth a look when hits cinemas towards the end of summer.

An interesting piece of trivia, that highlights the slightly nonsensical decision to restart the Spider-Man movies just a few years after the last film and when most people were looking forward to more. The Help stars both Emma Stone and Bryce Dallas Howard. Bryce Dallas Howard played Gwen Stacey in Spider-Man 3 and Emma Stone will play the same character in next summer's The Amazing Spider-Man.
