I wasn’t too impressed with the first trailer for this film. There was too much of an artificial, studio look to the film, without any apparent reason or artistic payoff; as in 300 or Sin City. Of course anything that helps Henry Cavill (excellent in the first class TV show The Tudors) on the road to stardom (Playing Superman in Man of Steel could help there too) and a performance from Rourke in nutso mode is often entertaining too, bt it didn’t help with the impression that the film’s director Tarsem (The Cell) was on another style no substance style over substance trip.

Mickey Rourke really wanted a shower in his railer!

Well trailer 2 is now out and we can have more of a look at what we think this may turn out to be. I’m still getting a real Dungeons & Dragoon’s Ranger vibe from that bow! This trailer is definitely better, story wise and the increased rendering time has made it look sharper, but there still doesn’t seem to be a reason, other than saving money(?) for the studio look.

Henry 'Superman' Cavill

Cavill plays Theseus, he of Minotaur slaying fame (or infamy if you’re a man-bull fan) in a tale adapted from the Myth of Theseus and The Minotaur. In this tale Hyperion (Rourke) has his mind set on wioing out the human race and complications ensure that the Olympian gods require Theseus’ help in order to stop him. I’m tempted to say it has to be better than Clash Of The Titans; but I remember saying something similar about The Last Airbender and, well, oh dear. Here’s hoping.
