New Superman movie, Man of Steel, attempting to cast Russel Crowe as 'The Old Man of Steel' Jor-El.

It’s a move that may bring back memories of Marlon Brando’s infamous casting as Superman’s dad in Richard Donner’s 1978 Superman. (for anyone old enough of course)  The Oscar winning Crowe is apparently in talks for the movie; although it is unlikely that he will be paid $16m for 15 minutes of screen time.

The Man of Steel is being directed by Zack Snyder (300, Watchmen, Sucker Punch) and produced by Christopher Nolan (director of Memento, The Dark Knight, Inception). It has already cast Henry Cavil (The Tudors) as Superman, Kevin Costner (The Untouchables) as Johnathan Kent (Superman’s adoptive father).
