4D? Been dying to exactly what Spy Kids 4D actually meant? Smell this...

Yes to the dismay of super-soaker sellers everywhere Spy Kids: All The Time In The World 4D won’t have ushers running up and down spraying the audience. Nor will it have gunge falling, Nickelodeon Kid’s choice awards style, from the ceiling on hpless parents. Instead we’re going to get “free of charge!” a scratch card with 8 numbers concealing 8 smells. During the film we’ll get a number popping up on the screen and then you scratch the number on the card and WHIFF you get to smell what the bad guys number 2 smells like! Or something.

Now there’s two ways this can be looked at. On the one hand this would make a pretty cool interactive experience for lots of children and families. But I can already see the nightmare of trying t find the number, trying to find the scratcher so you can rub the card and do on. Sure it’s gimmicky, but it isn’t pretending otherwise.

It's been done before, originally in 1960's Scent of Mystery and most recently in 2003's Rugrats Go Wild, but this could be the biggest.

What say you?
