I like animated previews for films. When done correctly they can set the mood and introduce you to the film in ways that trailers can’t and they can also do so without spoiling the movie itself. The best of these, for me, is probably still the one for Hellboy: The Golden. There the history of Mankind’s relationship with nature and the Elves (and consequently the creation of The Golden Army) is revealed.

Colombiana; trailer with intro from Zoe Saldana and a chance to win a 1-on-1 stunt school session. (competition closed)

In this we get the standard crook hiding behind “legitimacy” angle, but we also get to see that Besson has lost none of his skill at creating interesting ways to kill people. (See Leon, La Femme Nikita, The Transporter, Taken and more). It also draws attention to the fact that Cataleya’s kills are attributed to a man, a much larger man at that. Hopefully the film will do more than pay lip service to this.

Colombiana; 2 new TV spots for Zoe Saldana’s action film by the writers of Taken (Luc Besson & Robert Mark Kamen)

Whilst it may be foolish to expect this to be the film of the year, it’s good to see a few more of these action films having female leads and there’s always the occasional gem from the Besson action production factory.

Colombiana; 3 TV spots for action thriller from the makers of Taken...

Animated assassin...

Not room service...

Keep safe...
