“For a few to be immortal, many must die.” It’s another look
at the inequalities of modern existence from Andrew Niccol, but this time
instead of manipulated genetics, as in
Gattaca, he is using time as a metaphor for wealth. Starring Justin Timberlake,
Amanda Seyfried, Cillian Murphy and Alex Pettyfer, the film takes place in a
world where the currency is time itself and your ‘wealth’ is displayed on your forearm.
As usual there are a minority with decades or centuries to spare, whilst the majority
have at most weeks and often just days or hours.
