With competition mounting and the much of the under 25s this
film will surely rely upon to bolster its box office Mia at the box office, the
marketing push is hitting full steam for In Time. Written & Directed by the
respected Andrew Nicol (Writer of The Truman Show and writer / director of
Gattaca) In Time takes its cue from Gattaca, only this time replacing genetic
currency with actual life / time as the currency of the privileged. As in the
real world the bulk of the wealth, time, is in the hands of the very few. They
want to keep it that way and therein lies the conflict the film needs and, you
would hope with Nicol, the meat, social commentary and drama too.
Synopsis...
The switch in this reality is that aging is stopped at
around 25, but from them on the length of your life is wholly dependent on how
much time you earn, or inherit. The age cessation is, perhaps, best illustrated
when we are introduced to the mother-in-law, wife & daughter of Phillipe
Weis, all of whom look the same age.
