As well as Crowe the film has go a release date nailed down; the film will attempt to sing it way into our Christmas hearts on the 7th of December 2012.
Jackman has been cast as Jean Valjean, for some time, but casting the other main character, Valjean’s nemesis Inspector Javert, has been a long process, not least because the role required another actor with strong singing ability.

The film is being produced by Cameron Mackintosh, who produced the stage musical and the original score / songs by Composer Claude-Michel Schoenberg is also to be used. The film has been adapted from the original musical by William Nicholson and that was, of course, based on the original novel by Victor Hugo.

Both Crowe and Russell (who share a link of sorts with Crowe being the original choice to play Wolverine in Bryan Singer’s X-Men, but roving too expensive) and whilst Jackman will be rushing off from filming Les Mis to the set of The Wolverine; Crowe will fly off to play the father of Kal-El AKA Superman, in Man of Steel.

The Wolverine likely to be delayed by at least 6 months...

New Superman movie, Man of Steel, attempting to cast Russel Crowe as 'The Old Man of Steel' Jor-El.
