There was the usual knee-jerk’ reaction all over the
internet last week when an, out of context, long range snap of Johnny Depp on
the set of Dark Shadows appeared. “fans” of the show were not impressed with
what they assumed was the appearance of Depp’s vampire character Barnabas
Collins. But now thanks to an Entertainment Weekly photo we get to see not only
Depp but Helena Bonham Carter and the rest of the main cast in a ‘family’ shot.
TV show - 1966 |
Dark Shadows is a personal favourite of depp’s and he
convinced his number one director, Tim Burton, to make it with him. It’s an
update of a TV show from the 1960s involving vampires, werewolves and all sorts
of mythical creatures of the night.
The offending snap from last week... |
The film has an all star cast (Well it is a Burton / Depp
film after all): Johnny Depp as Barnabas Collins; Chloë Grace Moretz as Carolyn
Stoddard; Helena Bonham Carter as Dr. Julia Hoffman; Eva Green as Angelique
Bouchard; Michelle Pfeiffer as Elizabeth Collins Stoddard; Jackie Earle Haley as Willie Loomis; Jonny Lee
Miller as Roger Collins and Christopher Lee.
Finally, something to reaaaally (it should be pronounced like Bubbles in AbFab would say it) look forward to! As a devoted Burton-fan I am starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel. I needed to experience great news : ) However, I have to confess that I know very little of the original.
ReplyDeleteI don't think I've even heard of the show, let alone seen it. Still if it was one of Mr.. Depp's favourites and good enough for Burton then it's good enough for me. I can't wait, their films are always a lot of fun.
