Man of Steel: Superman gets a new logo...

submit to reddit
So there is the official new logo for the next Superman film. As WB tries once again to make a hit out of DC super hero that isn’t directed by Tim Burton or Chris Nolan (It has been a while) we get Zack Snyder’s take on one of the best known super heroes around. Unlikely his equally well known, but far more popular rivals Spider-Man & Batman, the big blue boy scout hasn’t been able to translate being well known into massive box office since the first 2 Superman movies over 30 years ago. Things may well be different this time.

Man of Steel is produced by The Dark Knight’s Christopher Nolan and directed by Zack ‘300’ Snyder. It is due out on the 14th of June 2013...

Snow White & the Huntsman: Chris Hemsworth introduces a behind the scenes look at the first big battle...

submit to reddit
As if emphasise how different this version of the Snow White tale is from Today’s Mirror, Mirror, we are being given a look at the first day of filming for Snow White & The huntsman. No gentle easing into the swing of things here; instead a clash between two massive armies caught from every conceivable angle on land and in the air. That ‘Lord of The Rings’ feel that Rupert Sanders was after, you get a real sense of it here.

Synopsis...
“In the epic action-adventure Snow White and the Huntsman, Kristen Stewart (Twilight) plays the only person in the land fairer than the evil queen (Oscar® winner Charlize Theron) out to destroy her. But what the wicked ruler never imagined is that the young woman threatening her reign has been training in the art of war with a huntsman (Chris Hemsworth, Thor) dispatched to kill her. Sam Claflin (Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides) joins the cast as the prince long enchanted by Snow White's beauty and power.

The breathtaking new vision of the legendary tale is from Joe Roth, the producer of Alice in Wonderland, producer Sam Mercer (The Sixth Sense) and acclaimed commercial director and state-of-the-art visualist Rupert Sanders.”

Wrath Of The Titans: Featurette on Kronos; the previous King of the Universe, who ate his own children to ensure he stayed king...

submit to reddit
So we come to the last of the creature featurettes. This film’s big bad guy is Kronos. In the myths he swallowed his own children to ensure that he and the Titans would reign supreme forever. Here it would seem that locking the massive titan deep in the Earth has not improved his disposition, although it does appear to have given him a very molten appearance.

Kronos, father of the gods...
“Kronos proved his appetite for destruction at a young age, when his mother Gaia tried to convince him and his brothers to murder their father, Uranus. The only one willing to do the deed, Kronos castrated his father and killed him, and assumed the throne as leader of the Titans. Destined to suffer a similar fate that befell his father, Kronos was overthrown by his sons Zeus, Hades and Poseidon, who left him to rot in the gloomy abyss of Tartarus, the nightmarish dungeon that lies deep within the underworld. But Kronos is gaining power as the gods lose theirs, dangerously weakened by humanity's lack of devotion. The gargantuan Titan is on the verge of breaking free from Tartarus and unleashing hell on earth...”

Battleship: New trailer arrives as the film is less than 2 weeks away from world cinemas...

submit to reddit
Battleship may still seem like one of the stranger adaptations of recent times (Pirates of The Caribbean was based on a theme park ride that fewer people had heard of, especially without Jurassic Park, but at least it had some kind of pre existing plot) but as its global release draws ever closer, it is starting to look like the kind of action packed (daft but fun?)Summer film that tends to do well. Situated 2 weeks after Wrath of The Titans and 2 weeks prior to The Avengers, Battleship will have to earn the bulk of it international coin very, very quickly. (Global release dates are at the end.) Remember Battleship is being released in the international market over a month ahead of North America to avoid getting squeezed between the European Football Championships and the Olympics. With so many other big films doing similar shifts, Battleship has had to mover the furthest. Still it's much smarter than the days when Hollywood used to pretend "soccer" didn't exist, and scratch its head when movie after movie "underperformed" every other summer.

Synopsis...
“Peter Berg (Hancock) produces and directs Battleship, an epic-scaled action-adventure that unfolds across the seas, in the skies and over land as our planet fights for survival against a superior force. Inspired by Hasbro's classic naval combat game, Battleship stars Taylor Kitsch as Lt. Alex Hopper, a Naval officer assigned to the USS John Paul Jones; Brooklyn Decker as Sam Shane, a physical therapist and Hopper's fiancée; Alexander SkarsgÃ¥rd as Hopper's older brother, Stone, Commanding Officer of the USS Sampson; Rihanna as Petty Officer Raikes, Hopper's crewmate and a weapons specialist on the USS John Paul Jones; and international superstar Liam Neeson as Hopper and Stone's superior (and Sam's father), Admiral Shane.
The battle for Earth begins at sea.”

Wrath Of The Titans: Cyclops are back, Featurette on the one eyed giants...

submit to reddit
The penultimate creature featurette (tomorrow we’ll get to see the Titan who ate his own children, Kronos) features the original Cyclops. The giants without whom Zeus wouldn’t have the power of lightening and the Titans would likely have won the war of the gods.

The Cyclops...
“The foul, fearsome Cyclops are a breed of cannibal giants endowed with brute strength and a single eye in the middle of their foreheads. So powerful are these primitive monsters, Uranus imprisoned them in an underworld abyss where they were guarded by a dragon. Once unleashed from their dungeon by Zeus, the massive masons forged extraordinarily potent weapons for the gods - including Zeus' lightning bolts, Hades' helmet of invisibility and Poseidon's trident - and joined the fight to overthrow the Titans.”
