Edgar Wright, the very talented director of the awesome TV
show Spaced, Shaun of The Dead, Hot Fuzz & Scott Pilgrim VS The world, is
being lined up to turn the two time TV series Kolchak: The Night Stalker
(1974) & The Night Stalker (2005) into a movie that should star Johnny
Depp. The show centred on the character of Carl Kolchak, an investigative reporter; He investigates crimes
/ mysteries that are unusual and often end up having supernatural or otherwise
weird connections.

It seems like a perfect fit for both Depp & Wright (although
maybe Wright need to get hiss lucky charms Pegg & Frost back somewhere) and
should follow after he has finished adapting Ant-Man for Marvel Studios.
Depp is currently preparing two other old TV shows for release. the first, in which he plays a Vampire, is Tim Burton's Dark Shadows (Due May 2012) and that will be followed by Gore Verbiski's The Lone Ranger in summer 2013.
