American viewers of the Jay Leno show got to see the teaser
first late on Tuesday night. The film sees Johnny Depp again directed by
Pirates of The Caribbean 1 – 3 and Rango director Gore Verbinski. Depp plays
the titular Ranger’s ‘side-kick’ Tonto, with a fairly unique visual representation.
Armie Hammer hopes to wash the stink of Mirror, Mirror off as the Lone Ranger
himself.(Yes his not really Lone if he has a side-kick, although Tonto isn’t a
Ranger so…
Synopsis…
“From producer Jerry Bruckheimer and director Gore Verbinski,
the filmmaking team behind the blockbuster "Pirates of the Caribbean"
franchise, comes Disney/Jerry Bruckheimer Films' "The Lone Ranger," a
thrilling adventure infused with action and humor, in which the famed masked
hero is brought to life through new eyes. Native American spirit warrior Tonto
(Johnny Depp) recounts the untold tales that transformed John Reid (Armie
Hammer), a man of the law, into a legend of justice--taking the audience on a runaway
train of epic surprises and humorous friction as the two unlikely heroes must
learn to work together and fight against greed and corruption.”
I've been a fan of Verbinski’s since Mousehunt so a new film
of his is always near the top of my list; Rango certainly added to that
anticipation, especially as that was effectively a Western too. The film boasts
an impressive cast:- Johnny Depp, Armie
Hammer, William Fichtner, Tom Wilkinson ,
Barry Pepper, James Badge Dale, James Frain and Helena Bonham Carter. Expect it on the 3rd of July in North America and the 9th of August in the UK
