20th Century Fox has finally picked a firm date
for their latest Mutant adventure. The 26th of July 2013. The film
is technically a sequel to 2009′s X-Men Origins: Wolverine; set in Japan, where
the first film’s post credits’ ending (one of them) had the clawed anti-hero
end up; however, after the mixed response to that film, the makers have been at
pains to show that this is a different entity. Their first attempt to make that
clear failed though as original director, Darren Aronofsky (Black Swan, The
Fountain) was forced to leave the film last year. James Mangold (3:10 to Yuma)
is now in charge and filming is set to begin as soon as Hugh Jackman finishes
work on Les Miserables.
Thor 2, the Phineas & Ferb movie and Johnny Depp’s The Lone Ranger get new release dates...
It will be interesting to see what happens with this release
date. The 6th of July 2013 was the original release date for Marvel
Studios Thor 2; however Disney moved Thor to November and placed potential
mega-hit Phineas & Ferb the movie to that date. At first glance the two
films don’t have much cross over, but Phineas & Ferb is one of those cartoons
that have a sizeable Student teen / young adult fanbase, as well as many a “mom”
who like to go see the not ugly Australian running around in a tight vest!
