The Adventures of Tintin is rapidly approaching (unless you’re
in the curiously Tintin phobic United States, in which case it’s still just
approaching) with only 4 weeks left until the eagerly anticipated film starts
its bid to take over the world’s cinemas. (International Release dates at the end)
The Smurfs pass $500m worldwide!
With the $500m taken by the Smurfs showing what an
established, global brand, can achieve, even with minimal storytelling
achievements, the release of Tintin, which has been around longer and with over
350m of the collected comic books sold, there’s a strong argument that Tintin
is a more popular character, and with an age group wider than that of the
Smurfs.
Synopsis...
“Paramount Pictures and Columbia Pictures Present "The
Adventures of Tintin" directed by Steven Spielberg from a screenplay by
Steven Moffat and Edgar Wright & Joe Cornish. Starring Jamie Bell
("Billy Elliot," "Defiance") as Tintin, the intrepid young
reporter whose relentless pursuit of a good story thrusts him into a world of
high adventure, and Daniel Craig ("Quantum of Solace,"
"Defiance") as the nefarious Red Rackham.”
Whilst the Mo-Cap is a potential turn off the pedigree of
Peter Jackson and Steven Spielberg producing & directing; as well as a well
respected writing team adapting (Edgar Wright (Shaun of The Dead, Scott
Pilgrim), Steven Moffat (Sherlock, Dr. Who, Jekyll) & Joe Cornish (Attack The Block) ) adds
extra cache to the film for the adults.
Am I the only one who finds it odd that they even though
they separate the regions, and list North America, they only ever put United
States and not Canada on these things?
