Here’s an interesting teaser for American Reunion. I know
Universal have done their best to water down the whole series with 1,001
straight to DVD sequels, but the timing for this one feels right for me, as
does the subject matter. Of course I’m always up for an excuse to my favourite ‘Buffy’
/ ‘How I met your Mother’ Lady, Allison Hannigan on the big screen. Wait, not
always I mean I’m sure we’re happily married in another dimension but ‘Date
Movie’, NO, just so much no.
The American Pie films were pretty big for a certain
generation and there’s every reason to expect them to come back for more,
having aged just as the cast and characters have. But with American comedy travelling
better than ever (The American Pie series was fairly atypical for the times,
matching and even outdoing the domestic grosses in a way that didn’t happen too
often) I’m sure Universal will be hoping the film cleans up all over the world
next year.
Synopsis...
“In the comedy American Reunion, all the American Pie
characters we met a little more than a decade ago are returning to East Coast
Falls for their high-school reunion. In one long-overdue weekend, they will
discover what has changed, who hasn't and that time and distance can't break
the bonds of friendship.
It was summer 1999 when four small-town Michigan boys began a
quest to lose their virginity. In the years that have passed, Jim and Michelle
married while Kevin and Vicky said goodbye. Oz and Heather grew apart, but
Finch still longs for Stiffler's mom, Now these lifelong friends have come home
as adults to reminisce about - and get inspired by - the hormonal teens who
launched a comedy legend.”
As you can see the films remained remarkably consistent in their takings (Even allowing for ticket price inflation the third film did pretty well in its own right)...

American Pie...
<3 Alyson Hannigan : ) Well, I not it's not very "girlie" but I kind of like American Pie. This is not something I confess to lightly, because AP is not exactly Oscar material ha,ha. But it is kind of hard to mix the inner image of Willow with the girl who is famous for saying "once at bandcamp I ...." well you know the rest ; P
ReplyDeleteAmerican Pie is one of those films that is much better than it should be. Everything about it just clicks and I find it to be one of my favourite comedies. :)
ReplyDeleteIt's funny because, despite being quite different, both are strong women who have repressed their true strengths and wish they were dating me :) Seriously Willow is one of my favourite TV characters. Witty, strong, brave and yes, cute.
Let's face it the flute thing is seared into the memories of millions of men, and women, for the rest of their lives. I remember there was this infinitesimal pause as everyone went in their heads "did she just say?!" then nobody heard a thing for close to a minute for all the laughter. :)
