A look at movies, especially films based on books (Yes that includes comics); Opinions, facts, movie charts, production news and, when possible a look at the movies VS their source material. I may also champion books I've read that really should be movies. I've also used it to display the unedited versions of my blogs for SyFy; (The sci-fi channel UK website.)Feel free to let me know about any stories that you think deserve the big screen treatment.
Variety has said that Ryan Reynolds is the number one choice
for the role of The Highlander; wherein “There can be only one!” Lionsgate are
producing a remake of sorts, but little has been revealed as to how much it
will follow the, often confusing, storylines of the original films. Suffice it
to say that there always seemed to be at least one more, and the switching of
the mythology from a fantasy tale of cursed immortals, to a race of aliens,
banished to Earth, will hopefully be a little more focused this time around.
Reynolds has recovered from a couple of underperforming
films in 2011 (The much maligned ‘Green Lantern’ and ‘The Change Up’) with the
solid hit Safe House, which co-starred Denzel Washington. Reynolds has yet to
decide if he will take the role, but it is worth considering that it may be
difficult to fit him into it either way; which does indicate that he is a
strong favourite of the producers. Reynolds is already tied to the Deadpool
film which forms part of 2oth Century Fox’s X-Men films; there is also a very
strong feeling that Warner Brothers won’t ignore Marvel Studios’ runaway
success with The Avengers. Despite Green Lantern singularly failing to do what
Iron Man did for the MCU, a Superman film will be out next year, Batman’s “real
world” trilogy is all but over, paving the way for a Batman who could co-exist
with Superman & Co, and it may be considered that having a familiar Green
Lantern, rather than a “rebooted & recast” one would better suit their
needs for the Justice League film. It’s been on and off more times than a call
girl’s knickers, but there simply has to be a Justice League movie now.
It’s a kind of magic...

The original Highlander starred Christopher Lambert (French)
as an apparently Scottish Immortal; trained in the immortal ways by Sean
Connery (Scottish) as a Spanish immortal. I can only assume that Reynolds
(Canadian) will b playing an Ethiopian Immortal, mentored by Patrick Stewart
(English) as a Chinese sorcerer.
