Footloose Trailer: The streetdance generation. Cut loose...

Ok depending on your age this will either seem like a coolish twist on the dance movies of recent years, or an abomination straight from the pits of hell! It’s ironic that one of Kevin Bacon’s most iconic roles is being remade in the year that he returns to major movies with X-Men: First Class. The original movie starred Kevin Bacon, Lori Singer and Sarah Jessica Parker and was a massive hit back in 1984. Costing $8m it made $80m in North America alone. It also managed to get TWO Oscar nominations for best song; for Footloose (Kenny Loggins) and Let’s hear it for the Boy (Deniece Williams). The ridiculous iconic Holding Out For A Hero was also part of a soundtrack whose album sold over 9 million copies in the US. (Trailer for the original film, as at the bottom of this piece.)

From the trailer it’s clear that the premise is basically the same. A small town bas public dancing after 5 teens die following, well public dancing, and a new in ton city boy gets on everyone’s nerves dancing. The remake has been written and directed by Craig Brewer (Hustle & Flow, Black Snake Moan) and is due out in October.

Check it out...

Now then "Where have all the good men gone and where are all the gods?/ Where's the street-wise Hercules to fight the rising odds?"

Annnndddddd 'Kick off your Sunday shoes...

Ok, OK here's the Footloose music video too...

The Avengers. New poster preview!

Those good people over at Superhero hype have taken a sneaky pic of the new poster for Marvel Studios mega event pic The Avengers! The pic shows the four Avengers to be Thor (Chris Hemsworth Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), The Incrdible Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) and Captain America (Chris Evans). It also has S.H.I.E.L.D (extra special) agents Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) and Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner). The only omission is S.H.I.E.L.D Director Nick Fury (Samuel L Jackson).
*Updated*

In my haste to get the poster up before I had to start preparing dinner and all that life stuff I missed some pretty big points. First of all Captain America appears to be wearing an updated costume that doesn’t match either of the ones he wears in Captain America: The First Avenger. It features both a bigger star and much brighter colours. Also the parachute straps are missing and there’s an even closer resemblance to the Ultimate Captain America costume. (Lord save us they may even have put actual wings, as opposed to painted ones, on the helmet!)

Black Widow is also wearing costume that is more of a Hybrid of the Comic book S.H.I.E.L.D uniform and her, figure hugging, black costume from Iron Man 2. Speaking of which Iron Man’s armour is also new. Hawkeye was only glimpsed in the dark in Thor and didn’t seem to have a special ‘costume’ on. Here he’s wearing one of the Ultimate Hawkeye costumes. Of course the poster is an art mock up so it doesn’t necessarily mean anything, but the comic book kid in me had to point these things out.

Yes, yes he did.

*update ends*

The film is being directd by Buffy The Vampire Slayer creator Joss Wheddon and also features Clark Gregg (returning from Thor, Iron Man & Iron Man II as Agent Coulson), Cobie Smulders (How I Met Your Mother), Tom Hiddleston (reprising his role as Loki from Thor) and Stellan Skarsgård (also reprising his Thor role as Dr. Selvig).

Once agin that cast is:-

Robert Downey Jr., Samuel L. Jackson, Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, Jeremy Renner, Mark Ruffalo, Scarlett Johansson, Tom Hiddleston and , Clark Gregg, Cobie Smulders, Stellan Skarsgård.
