According to Dealine.com old school Superhero Zorro is
heading back to the big screen. However whilst this is another Sony Pictures’
film, it is neither a continuation of the Antonio Banderas movies, nor a reboot
of that story. Rather it is based on the 2005 Novel from the author of ‘The
House of the Spirits’ (Itself filmed in 1993 by Bille August)
Matthew Federman & Stephen Scaia are to write the film;
they are currently best known for Television work including Warehouse 13, Human
Target and Jericho. Zorro is the secret identity of Don Diego de la Vega, in
the traditional (nobleman who secretly fights crime / injustice) mode. Since
his creation in 1919, by Johnston McCulley, the character has been featured in
countless TV shows, cartoons and films. The most recent of which are the 2
films starring Antonio Banderas and Catherine Zeta Jones. The first film won a
fair amount of praise and was pretty successful. The sequel less so in both
respects.
