Well, as usual, QT has got a very fine cast together. Leonard DiCaprio, Jamie Foxx, Christophe Waltz, Kerry Washington & Samuel L Jackson for starters. The definition f a must se film, even if being a Western puts it at a disadvantage as far as selling tickets goes.

Synopsis...
“Set in the South two years before the Civil War, DJANGO UNCHAINED stars Academy Award®-winner Jamie Foxx as Django, a slave whose brutal history with his former owners lands him face-to-face with German-born bounty hunter Dr. King Schultz (Academy Award®-winner Christoph Waltz). Schultz is on the trail of the murderous Brittle brothers, and only Django can lead him to his bounty. The unorthodox Schultz acquires Django with a promise to free him upon the capture of the Brittles – dead or alive.

Success leads Schultz to free Django, though the two men choose not to go their separate ways. Instead, Schultz seeks out the South’s most wanted criminals with Django by his side. Honing vital hunting skills, Django remains focused on one goal: finding and rescuing Broomhilda (Kerry Washington), the wife he lost to the slave trade long ago.

Django and Schultz’s search ultimately leads them to Calvin Candie (Academy Award®-nominee Leonardo DiCaprio), the proprietor of “Candyland,” an infamous plantation where slaves are groomed by trainer Ace Woody (Kurt Russell) to battle each other for sport. Exploring the compound under false pretenses, Django and Schultz arouse the suspicion of Stephen (Academy Award®-nominee Samuel L. Jackson), Candie’s trusted house slave. Their moves are marked, and a treacherous organization closes in on them. If Django and Schultz are to escape with Broomhilda, they must choose between independence and solidarity, between sacrifice and survival…”

Robocop remake adds Samuel L Jackson to an increasingly impressive cast...

As if Gary Oldman’s presence wasn’t enough, the coolest mother-f***** on the planet has signed on to Jose Padilha’s (Elite Squad) ambitious update of the classic, influential, Robocop. According to the Hollywood Reporter, MR. Jackson will play a character called “...Pat Novak, a charismatic TV mogul and a powerful force in the Robocop world.”

The titular role is being played by Joel Kinnaman who stars in the American version of TV show ‘The Killing’; as well as having  small, but memorable, role in this year’s ‘Safe House’. Gary Oldman may or may not “Fucking Love this guy” as the key creator of Robocop.

Presently the film is aiming for an unspecified date in summer 2013. Much like director Paul Verhoeven’s Starship Troopers, Robocop is a heavily satirical and deceptively deep film that has an awful lot to say about the cash driven society of the 1980’s, not to mention the power and influence of ‘dumb TV’. It’s the carrying forward of the subtext, not the updating of the FX, that is the key to making this work and casting like this suggest, that maybe these film-makers get that.

"I bet you think you're pretty smart huh?"

The Dark Knight Rises: First TV spots for the end of Nolan’s Batman trilogy...

The Dark Knight Rises may still be 2 months away, but its first TV spots are here now. The film that is involved in a potential three way super hero battle for number one movie of the summer, possibly of the year, has the advantage of being the last of its particular kind. The final Nolan Batman film, likely the final Bale Batman role (unless of course he returns in 10 – 20 years to play old Bruce in a Batman Beyond movie) and the last “real world” Batman film before the “franchise” shifts to a type of hero capable of co-existing with the likes of Superman and Green Lantern.

“Warner Bros. Pictures' and Legendary Pictures' "The Dark Knight Rises" is the epic conclusion to filmmaker Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy, Leading an all-star international cast, Oscar(R) winner Christian Bale ("The Fighter") again plays the dual role of Bruce Wayne/Batman. The film also stars Anne Hathaway, as Selina Kyle; Tom Hardy, as Bane; Oscar(R) winner Marion Cotillard ("La Vie en Rose"), as Miranda Tate; and Joseph Gordon-Levitt, as John Blake. Returning to the main cast, Oscar(R) winner Michael Caine ("The Cider House Rules") plays Alfred; Gary Oldman is Commissioner Gordon; and Oscar(R) winner Morgan Freeman ("Million Dollar Baby") reprises the role of Lucius Fox. The screenplay is written by Christopher Nolan and Jonathan Nolan, story by Christopher Nolan & David S. Goyer. The film is produced by Emma Thomas, Christopher Nolan and Charles Roven, who previously teamed on "Batman Begins" and the record-breaking blockbuster "The Dark Knight."
